Bali, Indonesia (Day 2) - Luwak Coffee Bali Plantation, Tegalalang Rice Terrace, Tirta Empul Tampak Siring & Elephant Cave Temple

Day 2 (28 December 2017)

We are ready for our first day of adventure in Bali! We rent a scooter from our villa. Most villas rent out scooters, or you can find them anywhere. To be honest, it's my first time riding a scooter and I was a little nervous. We started heading out thinking we could find our way to our destination but Bali is such a maze, and we got no choice but to hire a tour guide who we follow around the whole day. It's pretty cheap with the cost of IDR$150k

Our first destination was Luwak Coffee Bali Plantation, there is no admission fee. We don't drink coffee but we manage to see the process of a coffee being made from the poop of mongoose. Luwak means mongoose in Indonesian. They have a tour guide in the center that will show you around and they have a huge variety of coffee flavor and a place for you to chill while you enjoy your coffee. On top of that, they also have the famous Bali Swing where you could either do it alone or do it with your other half. The cost is around IDR$100k - IDR$300k.

Our next destination is Tegalalang Rice Terrace. This is one of the famous tourist spot with the paddy built on hill. You could cross to the opposite by going through the dirt or stairs. Our friend went to the opposite and told us the experience that they had watching one of the local handling a snake. There is a fee to park your scooter, the local wanted to charge us more but I think our guide spoke to them and we only pay IDR5k.

Our next destination was Tirta Empul Tampak Siring - Bali Holy Spring Water Temple. This place is a little crowded, you might want to go there a little earlier. There is a fee for the admission fee which shouldn't be too expensive. Since it's a temple, they require female to wear sarong to cover their knee. On your way in, they will hand you a sarong which shouldn't be used to go into the Spring Water. Inside the temple, you will have to change into a different set of sarong which can be used in the Spring Water. You may rent a locker to keep your stuffs. There isn't any changing room for female or male, it's a common changing room in which female and male change in there. However, they do have four restroom, if you feel a little uncomfortable to change with others but the line could be a little long sometimes.

It is believed that each Spring Water symbolize some form of divine respect to God and you have to go in order from the left all the way to the right. The water could be a little dirty and oily. If you are worried, I would advise not to get in. I felt a little disgusted when I am in the water. No offense.

Our next destination is Elephant Cave Temple - Goa Gajah Bali. The admission fee is about IDR$50k per person. The cave leads to a small worship area and it's not that big. There isn't much to see if you are more into adventure things but, if you are more into greenery, this could totally be a good place to visit.
