Aloha family!
Let me start off with an experience this week while bringing a group of tour. In my group there is a lovely couple and they are Donald and Kathy. Apparently Donald has been diagnosed with cancer and only has 6 - 8 weeks left. Donald has always wanted to come to Hawaii and Kathy worked really hard to save up the money to make the trip possible.
I was left alone talking to him and I asked if he has any regret in life? He said he enjoy every bit of his life and has no regret. That brings a thought, if we were to die in 6 - 8 weeks, what will be our deepest regrets? I think my deepest regret would be not giving all that I have to achieve what I want. Then i asked if he has any advice for the younger generation like me, he told me not to smoke and eat healthily. It is because smoking that he is now diagnosed with cancer and he couldn't stop smoking! He even told me he broke up with his wife so that he didnt want her to see him die but she eventually found out about it. Smoking really does kill, it kills slowly and separates you from the loved one.
Minutes ago, i was giving a talk of preparation for this life and next and there are 3 things that prevent us from achieving that which is and are abled to countered if we
1. Procrastination -be accountable to yourself
2. Afraid of responsibilities -take responsibilities and don't blame others
3. Ignorance - DWM
Daily - scriptures and prayer
Weekly - FHE, temple
Monthly - home teaching , visiting teaching
32 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.
33 And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end;
From the parable of the talent, we see that the first person receive 10 talents and he doubled it, second person receive 5 talents and doubled it while the third person receive one talent and went and buried. His reason was that he is afraid!
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Afraid is the human nature, we all tend to walk away when something gets really overwhelming because we are afraid and because it is the easiest things to do and running away from responsibilities. I challenge you to man up, buck up and accept any challenges that may seem hard to you. Do it and dont run away from it for God is with us.
6 It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance.
D&C 131:6
A fine example would be, In the game of bowling, if we fail to win, something was wrong the ally, the pins, their arms, and the list goes on and on and the trouble is never themselves.
