Week 81

My nights are most likely satisfied with smoothies. A long day of work and then come home to drink smoothies under the cold chilling aircond. Definitely need to enjoy my last few months to the max and not to forget the work as well. I couldn't remember if you ever let me try your smoothies but Ribena smoothies is also really good. We bought can fruits and sometimes fruits and would just blend the fruits.
Monitor lizard is really good but I don't think I can really eat it everyday. The members actually called us over so that they could cooked for us, we can't reject their good intention in feeding us.
We went to the crocodile farm again and this time with 3 live chicken. You probably would know what we did. Haha. Don't want to go too much detail on it.
We had district conference yesterday and the Area Presidency, Elder WIlson came with other Seventy such as Elder Chan and Elder Woo came as well along with President Mains and Sister Mains. This is the first district conference that I wasn't very excited about. I don't really know why. Anyway, I talked to President Mains personally and he has a plan of putting the native missionaries in Singapore to let the native experience how a Stake and Ward works. I guess I will be leaving then. I love being normal missionary rather than holding lots of leadership position. One thing that I find out is that it is not easy being a leader in this church but I definitely learn a lot. I love more in focusing in my area than focusing on the problems of the other missionaries, problems in their area and so on.

Remember how I said fixed appointment schedule fill up our week. My appointment for this week is filled up already and all I have to do is call to confirm appointment. Working hard is really good but working smart is really the way. Most of the times a lot of the missionaries have tough time planning their days, you simply just have to know all the people in your area to know who to visit and this is why we emphasize a lot on the missionaries in Miri here to visit all the members in their area.

My next several months focus will be on strengthening the branch by trying to help them organize home teaching. Frankly speaking, home teaching is really the key of retention and reactivation. Missionaries are just short term solution but the members really are the long term solution. I visited a lot of the less actives in my area, they have great knowledge and testimony in the church but they only thing that they need is someone to guide them which is the home teacher's duty. Even though organizing home teaching program isn't the missionaries duty but if I don't do it, who will. Non of the members will do it and it will prolong the problems. We have some serious problem here, we are dealing with others salvation. We need to bring those who have wander off the straight and narrow path back to the right path.
Yesterday 1 of the less active families that I worked with finally came back to church! She hasn't been to church for several years already! She came with her non member son. It definitely is something to be happy for. President Mains actually told one of the missionaries that Puchong branch is the strongest branch he has seen in Malaysia because it is fully run by local leaders. I am really proud because there is where I am from but in order to maintain what we achieve, home teaching and visiting teaching cannot stop because they are the strength to the members in guiding and strengthening them.

Like you said, mission is really hard and I really have no idea how I managed to endure it. Maybe it's because sometimes we shouldn't question too much but just do it. I definitely know that this work has change me and it has change the people around me especially the people that I teach. Each and every day my testimony grow because of all these people around that constantly grow in their life.
