A Little Update

Adeline's Note: Hi all, If you want to send Elder Tan anything, please don't send to the Sarawak address as they are planning to move. Safest way is to always send to Singapore address. It will be passed to him somehow.

The trip to Singapore is magnificent because we get to fly on plane. I kinda miss flying on huge plan for few hours rather than an hour. And it is my first time taking Air Asia. Based on my experience with Air Asia, they charge for foods. So, next time if we were to travel anywhere, book anything except Air Asia. Thankfully the rest of the flight is Malaysia Airlines and foods are provided.
Its been decades since I last visited Singapore. Singapore is indeed a beautiful place to visit and I would definitely visit again if I have chance. Everything is so convenient and we are always on the train traveling around Singapore. We have the opportunity to talk to Singaporeans about the gospel and also to go knock on doors in Singapore.

On the first day in Singapore, on our way into the train, I heard a guy looking at us and telling his friends, Mormons! Cult! It is truly saddening when people say that the church I represent is cult. After that, I'd been thinking thinking and thinking. Why would people say our church is cult when our church focuses on family unity and never encourage smoking, immoral behaviour and all negatives things. Come to think of it, is it a bad thing to have a united family or is it good for you to smoke?

I began to understand a little on how people work with their mind. They tend to let things control what they say instead of truly understanding what they say. Like I said in my talk in the church. Have your own mindset and don't do what people does. It is never a cool way to live people's life and not your life. This is your life, not others. Live it your own way! These people, they need to understand the truth and we, missionaries are here to teach them. We all have weakness in our life including us. We may not speak perfectly or answer your questions perfectly but we know that we are called of Prophets of God to share what we know. I know that the message that we share is true.

Therefore, don't judge a book by its cover. Read its content. Read the Book of Mormon. I promise you it would change your life like how it has change my life. You may find it hard to understand at first, but as time goes on, you will know that the things that you learnt is true. How wonderful it is if you would give yourself a chance to know more. It wouldn't hurt to have an additional knowledge. Always remember, we do not force people to learn more about the truths because we believe in the gift of agency that God has given unto each one of us. The gift to choose and to make your own choices. And this is what I love most about my church. No hard feeling, the choice is yours.

All the missionaries in Sibu have the opportunity to gather together and watch General Conference together. While watching, suddenly, the electricity went off for seconds BUT the TV is still playing the General Conference. I have heard many stories about these incident but I have never really experience it until Saturday. I have witness countless miracles in my life that I think I should share with everyone. I testify that there is God in this world.

There will be times where you will be alone and no one there to help you. A little friendly advice. Kneel down and pray to God and I believe he will hear you as you pray sincerely. I do this because I know some of you in your life has lost guidance in your life. I do this to tell you that in the world like this, there is still HOPE. Never give up because there is always someone there that haven't give up on us yet.

If you feel that the things I have said is true. You are on the right track. Till now, good luck and all the best to everyone in their life. May God bless you and your family!
