Sibu, Sarawak, East Malaysia

I entered into my first area on my 20th birthday. I still remember vividly the feeling of not knowing what is happening even though I am in my country and coming to East Malaysia is a complete different experience as the culture here is different. On the very first day, Elder Bradley brought me to one investigators house, we were talking and talking and I have no idea what language were they talking even though they are speaking in Malay. I'd been speaking Malay for over 10 years and right here right now, I couldn't understand a single word because of the accent.

Ever since then, my Malay has improve and I have learnt to become a man getting rid of all my fears and thinking about serving all the time. The 6 months that I'd spent in Sibu has shaped me into a better person every single day. I am most thankful to all the people that I'd met on my mission.

My first bike purchase. Used it for 2 whole year and its still working.
Been with me the whole time.

We eat on the floor and its actually one the best feeling ever as
everyone gather together and eat and talk and laugh.

Glad enough to watch the dedication of the new chapel in Sibu.

Sago worm. A really expensive food in Mukah. I was invited to taste one and
I did. It taste like shrimp.

I'd never seen a baptismal font that is this beautiful.

Sacrament hall is fancy too.

My first recent convert and we are the first one who use the baptismal font
in the chapel. Proud of it.

I conquer Sibu chapel. JK

We found a ferry that takes motor & bikes that cost 30 cents
to cross back and forth.

This is at Kapit. Be grateful that we all have a sink or dishwasher in our house.

My all time favorite food time.

I broke my brake. My brake is gone!

CNY with house owner. They are the best. The house owner is the first
member that joined the church but have long gone inactive.

Enjoying the fireworks on top of the roof.

Sibu is the best place to celebrate fireworks. Majority of them are Chinese.
You are able to see fireworks all around. That night as we were cycling
back home, all we could see is fog. It's so bad as everyone just love
burning their money.

We meet some pretty interesting people that have some interesting pets.

If it bites your finger, you have to bid farewell to your finger.

and its as heavy as _____ (fill in the blank)

A gift from a member.

Paranormal view of a double rainbow outside of the church.

I also caught a bird during my mission.

This is one of the biggest insert in Sarawak. It make a "ngek ngek" noise

Bad luck. I lost my luggage on my way to Singapore and they found it.

Met Jonathan on my mission. Welcome to the mission Jonathan.

So the first week, I travelled to Singapore for Zone Conference.
The second week, I travelled to Kuching for Mission Conference with Elder Gong.
The third week, I got transferred to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Three weeks of constant flying.
This is Kuching Parliament Hall. I think.

I considered this as my biggest accomplishment in Sibu where
5 children are all baptized by their respective father. We actually
baptize some as some of their father are not member. Initially,
there were 7 but 2 couldn't make it on time.

Trio and we didnt have enough bike except for a kid bike from the house owner.
So we decided to use it.

The interesting thing about this picture is not the samurai sword but my name tag.
I notice I had the wrong tag on me. While Elder Pratt had my tag.
I didnt know until my companion told me when we were at the member's house.

Sibu Zone.

Sis Irene, one of the strongest member in Sibu that moved from Mukah.
So glad to know her as she has helped us a lot in locating less actives.

Bro Gima's family.

Bro Khimmy's family.

That one Ramly burger stand that we would always go to before we head home.

Elder Marteeny and Sister Marteeny sending me off to my next area.
