Why I choose to get married at the young age

Now that Beam and I are married for almost 3 months, we continue to treasure every moment that we spent our time together and reflect on everything we have been through.

A little more details about ourselves;

  • Beam is 23 years old while I am 24 years old
  • Beam is studying Teaching English as Second Language while I study Computer Science
  • Beam is working as a tour guide while I work as a student developer/analyst
  • Beam is a relief society pianist
  • We both recently got set apart to be a temple ordinance worker which mean we volunteer our time to serve in the LDS Hawaii temple
  • We both have tons of assignments to do
  • We both only have 24 hours a day minus 8 hours of sleep which means we only have 16 hours to accomplish most of our task
  • WE BOTH ARE REALLY BUSY

Before we were married, we've received numerous negative remarks from friends or even close family members. Some of the arguments were;

  • you are still young
  • you are not even done with school
  • you don't have a house, car or a career (Typical Asians reasoning)
  • is she pregnant?
  • a buuunuunnnnncccchhhhh of different comments that you could think of
Imagine what was our reaction. Out of a sudden, our decision has become everyone's decision.

Of course we respected every single comments and were a little intimidate by all those negative remarks made by people we love. With fear in our mind, we were a little skeptical with what is in our future, however skeptical we are, we are still determined to do it as we know that the decision lies in our hand. We have accepted what others have view us but we wanted what we know would be best for ourselves.

Ever since we have been married, both of us were amazed at how many new things we have learnt together and we both felt that it is definitely one of the best decision we have ever make together. Things definitely are different ever since we are married as we learnt to be less selfish. Not to forget, with all those responsibilities that we HAD before we were married, we have even more responsibilities now. That isn't a bad thing as it helps us to be more independent.
1. We have learnt to budget together
2. Do groceries together which include cooking together too

3. Save together for future and tuition fees
4. Someone that will listen and give you the best advice
5. Use our time wisely

With MOOOREEE ANNNDD MOOOREEE

However, the main point was, my parents have tried teaching me all this good principle all my life and I have never been really good at implementing them until I am married. After I am married, I take things more seriously, I make sure that I am capable of providing my family the life that they want. At least this is me, now dont take my advice and tell your parents you want to get married because you think you will be more independent. I think marriage take place when both of you are ready. Marriage is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. You will be with them for eternity. Think twice whom you want to spend your eternity with.
