In times of need

The Singapore and Malaysia Chapter in BYU-Hawaii had a Gospel Forum and the BSA Presidency which consists of The President of Singapore and Malaysia Chapter in BYU-Hawaii, 2 Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer gave some spiritual thought as an introduction since we have a new line of leadership. This is some of my talk on that day!

Everyone in this room will definitely agree with me that sometimes we have challenges that crushes us where we lose hope, and our faith started getting weaker. I am no exception from this because it is part of our mortal challenge. We all signed up for this and now we have to help one another.

Before I go further, i want each of you in this room to know that you are being looked up as a role model by many many people from where you came from. Some of you are being looked up as a role model of returned missionary. You are the reason some might want to serve mission. Some of you are looked up as smart, intelligent because you are in BYU. You are the reason some has goal because you have one. Everything that you do will somehow influence someone in their life so be smart with every move that you make in life.

I have the opportunity to Skype with my mom. My mom asked me if i remember when she emailed me one time during my mission and told me her problem and my respond was, I do not have all the answers to all the problem, you have to find it yourself and the ways to do it is
to go to church weekly, pray daily and ready daily. When my mom brought that up, I could only imagine how guilty I am for not walking what I preach on my mission.

It reminds me of the frustration feeling when my investigators and less actives do not do their scripture reading. Their excuses of not having enough time. Always the same old same old excuses. "Elder, no time ah" And right here I am doing the same thing using the same excuses. "Heavenly Father, I am too busy"

Feasting on the word of God each day is more important than sleep, school, work, television shows, video games, or social media. You may need to reorganize your priorities to provide time for the study of the word of God. If so, do it!Richard G Scott : Make the exercise of faith your first priority

I made a new year resolution of reading scriptures daily this year. I began reading last Monday and this is how Heavenly Father guilt trip me while I was reading from Alma 46.

Alma 46:8-9
Thus we see how quick the children of men do forget the Lord their God, yea, how quick to do iniquity, and to be led away by the evil one.
Yea, and we also see the great wickedness one very wicked man can cause to take place among the children of men.

There is a senior couple that I respected the most that taught me the importance of Daily Weekly Monthly - things that we should do like daily prayer, daily reading, weekly temple, monthly home teaching

The main purpose of doing all this is to have the spirit with us. One of the greatest blessing is the gift of the spirit of God.

I want to end with a quote from someone that I respected a lot who share this with me.

It's from Gordon B. Hinckley and he told it to a couple when he was sealing them in the temple.  The quote is: "Live your lives so when you need a blessing from Heavenly Father, you can receive it out of your righteousness, not His mercy."
