Week 84

Hey family,

I remembered we had a foot massage in Malacca but I couldn't remember anything before that and after that. I am just so bad with old memory now but it is definitely a good thing because I am looking forward for future. For your information, I am still pretty thin right now except that I am bigger, in other word, more fit in muscle wise not fats. Ok. I just have to accept the facts when more than 1 person tell you that you are fat. I am fat because I am cooking so many delicious foods. I have been eating Burittos every Morning. It is definitely one of my favourite food but I am also on diet. I go sprinting some of the morning because apparently it is one of the fastest way to slim down.

When you make a promise with God, you ought to do it no matter what. I promise to have a renew desire and renew motivation. I started thinking thinking thinking thinking what are the best way for reactivation, retention, working with members and finding new people to teach. I believe that we need a program but I haven't found out what kind of program yet. As I was contacting this lady, it just come out of my mouth that I am here to do survey, can you please answer some of my questions. People are a lot more open when we approach that way rather than, hey we want to teach you about Jesus Christ. And the idea popped up in my mind about how people in West would approach other to fill up a survey form. So the second day, I went and did a little survey form with Elder Bodhaine and mine testimony on it along with our picture and some other questions. We went and did a little try out or beta testing I guess. We approach 5 people and 3 of them actually wrote down and we instantly got their phone number and addresses. This is sooo much better than KNOCKING! Then, we did a second phase try out which is to try it out in the mall. Apparently, it doesn't work very well in the mall. We are presenting the idea to the Zone in the Zone Council tomorrow. I change it to Zone Council rather than Zone Meeting because we want everyone to council together as a team. We are also calling a missionary to be a scribe for the district. So what the scribe does is that she will write down every problems that every companionship face during area discussion and also write down solution that were thrown into it and follow up to make sure that we know what will work and what will not work.

When we start thinking, ideas appear. I firmly believe everyone is a smart human beings and they simply need to push themselves a little bit. And because of that, we replaced one of the zone vision into "Think like a champion." The purpose of it is to make sure everyone will start to think smart and work smart. We constantly need more new ideas and way for reactivation, retention, working with members and finding more new people to teach. Elder Bodhaine and I couldn't think all of these by ourselves. 14 brains are at least better than 2 brains, dont you agree? The idea is that they will come out with new ways and they have to at least try it out at least twice and report the progress and if it is working, we will implement it zone wide. I am positive enough that if there are not tried out, we are going to be loaded by so many new ideas.

We will see what is the progress in few more weeks time. We are having a baptism in 2 more weeks. I rather have members baptise than me baptising. Kenny and Juliza are doing awesome. Kenny has stop smoking completely and both of them really love church. One of the interesting part is that, Kenny was asking if there is any cleaning day in the church? I do not want people to think that I only come to church and not show up in neither of the activity. Imagine that. Who would volunteer themselves to serve other? Rarely, you will find this type of person here in Miri. We think that they are definitely ready but if they aren't, we will have to postpone their baptism. I also calculate the amount of money he spent alone on smoking. Guess how much was the figure? It was RM60k. You could have buy a car easily with that amount of money but instead you chose to burn it. A lot of the times, when they see how much they spend the money in smoking, their reaction would always be stunned by the amount of money they spend in. Come on smokers.

Maxwell was drinking last night and was drunk. The scary part is that, how can a drunk person ride a motor and manage to reach home safely? Apparently thats what happen to him all the time. He was reluctant to come upstairs so I have to come down stair to pull him up stair. You know how bold I will be when it comes to situation where people do not keep the commandments. I was like, whats up Maxwell? What did you do? He was like, Elders, I feel like buying more alcohol. Deep inside me, I was thinking that no way I am letting you get any alcohol. So I told him that we would help him to push him motor into his mini garage and give him a blessing. We taught him a little bit and he was pretty sober because he can answers all my question pretty well. We taught him and encourage him and express how much we love him. At the end, we gave him a blessing and he express a lot of his concern and promised not to do it again. It is so amazing how priesthood are able to do so much when it comes to blessing others. I am definitely grateful for the priesthood that I hold.

Dont worry mom. I am doing good. I can tell you a bunch of stories that would scare you even more but know that you should be proud and happy instead of sad that I am facing a lot of challenges because challenges are there to help me to grow. Isn't it good to see your son grow through a lot of the challenges? I feel that overcoming challenges are a lot easier when I have a positive attitudes. I have been working on my attitudes a lot and I learn to see things from other perspective and be positive no matter what.

Take care and I love each of you.

Elder Tan

The usual hang out burger place and this time I got a MONSTER BURGER!!

Do you know the seahorse is actually a symbolic of Miri State? That restaurant behind was shut down. I didn't know what was the reason.

That is a really beautiful sunset.

The hardest thing to do, what am I doing after my mission? *pondering* haha

Have I change or do I still look the same?

This is my companion, Elder Bodhaine. He is from California.

We went to Japanese buffet the last preparation day! Zone Sushi Day! There is just so many fun stuff to do every Preparation Day. I was doing Zone Report in front of every missionaries in Singapore. It looks like every missionaries are lacking the FUN part. President Gordon B Hinckley had said, if the missionaries are happy, they will work more effectively.

Zone Bowling Day!

Elder Bodhaine and Elder Trudo

Do you see what came out of my pocket? After it flew out of my pocket, it legit went into my hand.

Everyone decided to jump after they see how cool the shot was.

We are definitely serious about the work. #dontjudge

That's my companion, Bodhaine!!

Who would have imagine an unintentionally caught picture would be so cool.

I was playing with my camera after I have bought it more than a year and I didn't know that it has so many cool features.

Think like a champion is an inspiration to me and these rubik cube has definitely help me release a lot of stress.

I am still not good yet. Still trying to look through the guide paper.
