Week 49

Hey all,

Life in Butterworth is as usual except that all of us are on fire in expanding the branch now. Knocking has always been something that I do not want to do or do not love to do because people sometimes would criticize you or would ignore you which I do not like at all. But because the whole mission are applying Christlike attribute into their mission this month and I decided to work on humility and patience. I am indeed very grateful to be able to work on those because it definitely shape me into a patience and a humble guy.

I often replace my purpose which is to invite others to come unto Christ into force others to come unto Christ but as I learned to be more patience and humble. I began to respect the agency that are given to each human being. I remember how I used to say I want to be an inspiration speaker that can inspire other people. I never would expect I am doing what I really want to do all this time except that I am a messenger that brings inspiration and hope.

Because knocking is one of the way to invite people and find people. I decided to knock every single door which I normally wouldn't do. Usually I would skip several houses or skip Chinese houses but as I begin to learn to rely and believe in Heavenly Father, He will put us in a way that we would be able to find the elect(people that are willing to listen and the chosen one) Last week, we were knocking as usual, and finally we came to this house. People in the house were whispering to each other saying, Elders elders are here. While me looking at my companion asking, did they just say elders? Looks like someone know us and we don't know them. They began to invite us in and start telling us that they have lost contact with the elders. And I found out that the mom is a strong hindu and her husband had passed away. I began to share my conversion story and the reason why my family were converted into Christian. Because 1st uncle passed away incident, we are able to meet with the missionaries and know that families are meant to be together forever. It kinda open her heart a bit but she is still strong hindu. The good thing is she wanted to listen to plan of salvation.

And through them we are able to teach their friends who had been looking for the truth all this while. I remember teaching the friend yesterday with her kids. It was a mom and 2 daughters. At the end of the lesson, I invited the mom, Baby Mikhil to pray before we leave. I couldn't forget what she said. She prayed that all this while she has been really confuse. Thank you for sending these 2 prince to us that we may be able to know the truth and the only way to return to heaven. At that time, I began to realize that a lot of people are looking for truth and they couldn't find it. I couldn't or wouldn't understand this phrase until the experience yesterday. It has given me more motivations to be able to explain the confusion that are going around the world right now.

I love being a missionary, because I am able to meet with different kind of people every single day with different point of view. Discussing and also talking with them increases my knowledge every single day. I love to be able to change others life and inspire others. I couldn't number how many souls that I have brought back but I definitely love and will not regret for the time that I spent.

We will be meeting with them again this following week. But we have to travel to Singapore this week and the following week which really make me mad for not being able to stay in my area.

Elder Tan

Whenever I cycle, I make sure I never stop pedaling unless I am going downhill or I am about to stop. Any other time would be constant pedaling.

@ Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang. I gotta admit that the weather is really hot in Malaysia. I remember when I first got off from the flight from Hawaii to enter into KLIA. The first thing that I said was, its so hot! Haha

(knocking) Hello, how are you!? My name is Elder Tan. I am missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We bring message about family. Do you have a family? (door slammed or "no" wave sign)

I was gonna jump but I move too slow that because of all the weight that I put up in Butterworth.

Former investigators fed us and I ate 3 plates of food and couldn't finish the 3rd plate because the other missionaries stack up food on my plate while I was on a phone. So I have to lie on the floor for at least 30minutes while they were teaching a lesson == and I also throw up when I reach home
