Week 20

Alrighty. Sorry for replying really late. We went out to Kapit(somewhere around Sarawak) on our preparation day which takes 6 hours to travel forth and back. The reason why we visited Kapit is because there was an endowed family from Sibu 1st branch who moved to Kapit because the husband was called as a Ketua Kampung( Head of village). When we first step our foot on Kapit and walked around. People just stood by and watch us. Some of them were whispering to each others that we were students. Right, there is time I really wish to be identified as student because most of the time people would think that I would become some kind of Priest or Father of our church. I would be like screaming in my heart, I am a student who stopped my education to serve mission but will continue my study later on.

Anyway, I'd decided that from now on, I want to be identified as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Call me student, father, priest or whatever. The fact that I am a missionary will not change.

It's really good seeing more people serving mission. But heed my words, Mission is not an easy experience. If you have decided to serve a mission, you get in there and you return with an honor. There are trials and challenges that you will face, it wasn't meant to take us out but to build us to become what God really think what we will become. I am hoping to see more missionaries from Puchong branch. Good work!

While travelling to Kapit on an express boat, I was pondering a lot what happen a year ago, 2 years ago, 3 years ago and so forth. But what I am glad is that I chose the right way to do the right thing. Mistakes that I have done several years ago do not just shape me but it constantly remind me not to make the same mistakes again. Overall, I am really happy to be what I am today. If you ask me what I would do from now on. I will tell you, I will do what I think is right and never do the wrong.

We had our first church meeting last week in the new chapel. I knew that more challenges will appear and before that week, I went to each of the potential priesthood holders house and plead to them. Things are not gonna be easy from now on. We will have more challenges to face. But what I hope is that, I am able to invite you to come back to the church as a priesthood holder to help the Lord build his kingdom here in Sibu. You are not gonna do this alone. We missionaries will work with you. The branch will work with you. And by this, I hope we will work together as one.

Previously I had talk about building the branch here in Sibu but one thing I do not realise is that I will not able to do it myself. No matter what, I will not be able to do it myself. My role here in Sibu is to guide, not lead. The church leader here will have to lead. The only thing I can do is to support them that they will be be able to be more self-reliant. So, future missionaries, working with the branch is really important. You need everyone to work together to build a branch.

I remember reading from a magazine that each of us will be pushed to the wall of faith. And from there, we will decide whether we fall or we keep moving forward. Recently, I gave a Book of Mormon to a young guy and challenge him to read and pray to see if its true. The other day we came back, he told me that Book of Mormon was a conclusion book of Bible and we asked why would you think so. He flipped to back of the page where the index was and show me the bible verses found there. And shortly after that, I explained what an index is. He denied it and I told him, "You are a very smart guy but there is one person in the world that knows everything. His name is God. Will you pray and ask Him?" I do not know what I did was right or wrong but I am glad that I defend what I know is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God and that it was translated through Prophet Joseph Smith. So, as a result of this, I would like to invite everyone to defend what they know is true for themselves.

And the most important part, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! I am sorry I couldn't give you any present but I know that you do not want any present but that you want me to be a better person in future which I know that I can promise you.

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to mummy,
Happy birthday to you,

Apostle quoting reading Book of Mormon can solve personal problem and I know that is true. Read Book of Mormon if you have personal problem! :)

If mom is curious what I am eating right now, I'd stop buying instant noodles and cook myself. Do you know what is this? That's tom yam fried noodle that mom usually cooks. I don't know how I did it but I remember seeing mom cooking and that's how I remember.
