It's Been A Long Week

Yeah. I did receive several emails from Kenward. Hmm. About the snacks, I think it's pretty much the same except for the seaweeds. They don't like seaweeds so I got the seaweeds for all myself. I haven't have a camera yet larhh so I don't think I can take any pictures yet. Plus there is a huge transfer going on. Elder Tippets and my companion, Elder Bradley is getting transferred to Bintulu. And I am going to have a new companion, Elder Reed. They will be leaving on Thursday.

This week is really a tiring week because we have been traveling a lot for the past few days. Yesterday, we woke up at 4.30am to get a bus to Mukah but there isn't any bus that has space for 9 elders. So, we gotta wait till 7.30am. And we came back from Kuching reaching Sibu at 5am last Friday. So crazy! So basically, I am super exhausted.

On our way back from Kuching, we took a bus called BusAsia. It's an AirAsia's bus that is the top choice among all others bus because they have comfortable seats and they provide blanket for you so that you won't feel cold. Plus, it's a double decker bus. We have our bikes with us and one of the staffs said, if you want to put your bike on, it's going to be RM5 per bikes. We were all so frustrated as this has never happen because we took this bus for so many times. The staff insist RM5 per bikes before letting us put on our bikes. As usual, when there is things that pisses me off, I would stand really close to that guy with my hands on my waist asking that guy what is your problem. Before I can open my mouth, it just come to my mind that I am no longer Kelvin Tan. I am Elder Tan. I was so angry I couldn't do anything. And in the end we paid RM20 for 4 bikes and we requested a receipt so that it will be reimbursed. That guy promised to gave us receipt but upon receiving our money, he went off from the bus and never return. When we reached Sibu, Elder Tippets said he faces this experience once. That guy asked for RM20 but Elder Tippets said to him, either you put my bikes in or I will change a bus. So, that guy put his bike him without charging him. I became even frustrated after hearing this, I looked up the receipt hoping there is customer service number so that I can inform them about this incident but there is no number on the receipt. I was angry not because of RM5 but because this person cheated our money and put the money into his pocket. After chilling down, it's alright. This RM5 teach me a great lesson to always be smart.

And we just moved into a Semi-Detached house. I will provide the address later on. That address is for your reference. If others people were to send me stuffs, they can send it to Singapore Mission. As for my family, you can send it straight away to my house.

There is funny stories from a senior couple in Mukah. He said, Elders, I saw a crocodile. Where? Coming out from a drain and then it climbed the tree.  It's a biawak! (Monitor lizard) Sorry but all of us burst into laughter after hearing this. It's really funny.

Recently, me and Elder Bradley became a teacher in the Sunday School class because the teacher went to Sabah for 2 weeks so we will be teaching for 2 weeks. We decided to teach them to strengthen their faith and endure to the end as my branch is really struggling right now. Most of the times, the missionaries will have to bless or pass the sacrament because lack of priesthood holders. And as we get closer to the new chapel opening soon, many challenges seems to pop up. Likewise, there is challenges that we will face in life especially when we are close to reaching our goals, more will pop up. At the end of the lesson, I expressed deep love to the members by saying you are all so blessed because you have your own chapel. In my branch in West Malaysia, we are still renting a building. I am very proud of each of you that have been enduring till now and will continue to endure. I promise you that when the new chapel opens, you will see great differences. More and more people will come to the church. I don't know why but I just so love these people. And I remember telling them, when everyone think that you can't do it. Always remember that Heavenly Father know you can do it.

I am very nervous right now that I will have to take lead when my new companion came. I have to bring him to members house and really, I don't quite remember some of the roads. But I know that the next time I email you, I will have overcome that fear. Mission is a process of Heavenly Father preparing you to be a better person and I know that is true because I have grow a lot especially coming out of my comfort zone to do things that I have never done before.

Regards,
Elder Tan
