Changes

Adeline's Note: I think I need to stress again that the person who update Kelvin's blog is me, his sister, Adeline. If you want to find Kelvin, he won't be available on social media during his entire mission so drop him an email at  zhi.tan@myldsmail.net

Note: Missionaries' dad and mom are those who train them, not talking about biological parents.

My dad is Elder Bradley and my mom is Elder Reid. And Elder Christian replaced Elder Tippets. So it's Elder Meister and Elder Christian and then Elder Reid and Me. These people super hardcore weih. Every night come home, I am so so so exhausted and just collapse on bed.

I saw Nicholas and Brandon at Kuching but Nicholas got transferred to Johor Bahru already. Nicholas is doing pretty good. Tell mom I am doing well. Waking up everyday to exercise and then passed out before 11pm. I am leading a healthy lifestyle. On top of that, I have NuPlus every morning and sometimes Maggie Mee. My appetites grown a lot. Most of the times, I eat twice. For instance, I ordered 2 sets McValue Meal or 2 packs of Maggie Mee. Not just me, all the missionaries do that.

Yup. Loving the people is definitely important especially when Elder Bradley got transferred. It feel a lot different now. He used to do all the talking and calling people and planning while I just follow him around. But this time, I am doing most of the talking, calling people and also planning but Elder Reid still does help me most of the times. I don't know but I am beginning to feel the growth in me. I don't feel scare anymore like I used to whenever I talk to people. Like the other day, we were eating in McDonald. I randomly talked to 4 ladies sitting beside me but because they are muslim, we just have some random talks.

I don't care if I have to stay in Sibu for a year but if that is, that would be really good because I am putting a lot of efforts in this branch. I printed a 5 page list of family and some of the details are incorrect. So I have to go to each of the house one by one to make sure that details are correct. While doing that, I met one of a less active member that is taught by Angelo. Please tell Angelo that we found Sis Tham or Chee Bee. She hasn't been coming to church and when we visited her, she doesn't really want to talk to us until I talked about which missionaries teach you. And she said Elder Angelo Semana! Then our conversation last for 20 - 25minutes. Is there anything that Angelo want me to tell Sis Tham?

Few days ago, Elder Reid and me visited Bro. Kong, Elder Kong's dad. And recently he got into an accident that cause a huge cut on the feet but he doesn't want to let Elder Kong know. For the past weeks, I have been doing a lot of listening. This week, somehow I feel that I am done listening, I am doing some talking now. Bro. Kong is a very stubborn person like AhGong and he doesn't want to let Elder Kong know as he scares that it will divert his focus on serving the Lord. And he's been traveling to hospital by himself all the time even when the District President offered to bring him but he still refused. So, I told Bro. Kong, let's make a deal. I am not trying to threaten you but if you ever go to the hospital again, please call the District President so that he can bring you there. If not, I will have to tell Elder Kong your situation. When I said that, he said that his wife already told the son. I was like, kantoi. Plan failed. But I still wouldn't want to give up on convincing him to tell everything to Elder Kong. I share a scripture verses but he doesn't buy it so I shared an experience about mom in the States when uncle passed away. And I remembered asking, at that time, non of my family members agreed to called my mom and tell her the situation of my uncle but my dad called. If my dad did not call at that time. What would happen. My mom would be so angry and at the same time, she will be well prepared when she comes home. When I said this, I just stopped at some points because I couldn't really speak because my eyes were filled with tears at that time. The worst thing is, HE STILL DOESN'T BUY IT! Bro. Kong, I have live with your son for 3 weeks in the MTC. He is totally different right now. At times, he was struggling a lot because he doesn't really speak well in English. But let me tell you what he does, he prayed and ask for strength from the Lord. He is still not buying it. Really super stubborn. == Then I noticed that he wants his son to be strong and being focus to the Lord. Let me tell you something Bro. Kong, you want your son to be strong, but you are not helping him. If you want him to be strong, you should never soften your heart, give him your 100% be it good news or bad news. Tell him everything. I promise you if you do this, by that time he comes back he will be very strong. And lemme tell you one thing about missionaries, bad news will never affect missionaries. Bad news make missionaries strong. It will affect them at first probably first few days but let me tell you, after that period of time, he will be even stronger than before because they will kneel down on the floor and ask for strength. Isn't that what you want for your son? If you are backing off, you are not helping him. I was so happy when he said, alright, I am telling him everything. HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!

Time is really important because most of the times we are really busy so sometimes I would multitask while cycling. The other day, while I was cycling and texting. Elder Reid was ahead of me and he braked so I press on the front brake because my right hand was texting. My bike flip over and I fell off the ground. All the elders ahead me stopped and looked at me and some of the drivers saw what happen. Pride sudah habis dah plus a little minor damage on the bikes which doesn't really affect it except that it looks more ugly now which is good. So that nobody will steal my bike.

Do update me about everything larh.

Elder Tan
