Mission Field in Sibu

Adeline's Note:
Kelvin's P-Day is on Monday, so he will be writing back every Monday.
Noob Kelvin's very expensive Sunrider shampoo got confiscated by custom while travelling because he doesn't know cannot put in carry on. So I nagged him. How many times has he travel to not know that =.=

I didn't know I can't put my shampoo in the hand carry. But anyway, since they confiscated already, tak boleh buat apa apa la. People in Sibu are super friendly. We were always cycling and people would sometimes wave at us or say hello to us. I haven't take any pictures in Sibu yet because I think I somehow not used to using camera yet. Will try to take few pictures to show you if I see some interesting things.
Things are getting really fun every single day especially with my companion and housemates. I guess I haven't tell you anything about my housemate yet. They are the Zone Leader for Sibu area. One of them is from the States, his name is Elder Tippets and one of them is Elder Myster from Australia. These people are really crazy and funny. Living with these white people somehow make me feel like I am in the States and not in Malaysia. Elder Tippets will be finishing his mission some time around December. The house feels so quiet without them, really.
Things in church are really great especially with the church members. I try to do something differently by taking the initiative to shake their hand and talk to each of the church members and show them my love toward them so that they feel differently. Church members are friendly and always having a smile on their face. Being missionary sometimes is difficult especially when church members ask you question that you hardly able to answer. But thank goodness, my companion always back me up. I always hate not being able to answer questions, so most of the times I will really be reading a lot to have a deeper understanding of the gospel. One thing about missionaries is that, they are not encouraged to say no to invitation. And that is why me and my companion were called to dance iban cultural dance on the opening house of the new chapel. And called to sing with the choir and called to act in a skit. The new chapel will be opening some time around December. It is a huge and beautiful building.
There is a lot of stories I wanted to share.
Me and Elder Bradley visited one of the investigator's house and there is this small little girl that is around 7 ish I guess. SHE LOOKS LIKE BEATRICE! Ohmygoodness! She is so cute and she looks exactly like Beatrice when Beatrice was around that age. Later, she got bullied by her brother and cried. I was laughing at myself and thought to myself, maybe this is how Beatrice looks like when she cries. Hahahahaha.
Alright. We were assigned by the branch president to look for a church member called Bro Ricky Kong. We couldn't find him because the address and the phone number is false. So there is this time while me and Elder Bradley were cycling and we spotted someone fishing. I told Elder Bradley, maybe we should try to talk to him. And so we did. Guess what? That guy is Bro. Ricky Kong that we have been searching for! We got invited to his house later on.
Then we visited his house with the senior couple. We keep knocking the door and no one responded to us. We then gave up and wanting to leave. I have no idea why I was standing at the gate waiting waiting waiting while my companion is starting to leave. Then, Bro Ricky opened the door and we got invited into his house. We had a great talk. Elder Marteeny, the senior couple was a captain in the Air Force and he shared his story of attacking Vietnam. Then Bro Ricky said, he was at that time shooting the Americans in Vietnam. It was so funny! We never know why we invite the senior couple but somehow this is no coincidence.
We visited a lot of Ibans in Sibu and had a lot great experiences with them. The Ibans are always happy but they sometimes experience life without money and some of them even share their experience of having no money to buy food and so on. I feel so so so bad for these people. At that time, I really wanted to break down and tell these people how sorry I am and tell them how sorry are the West Malaysians for getting most of the resources from Sarawak. I feel so bad that I wanted to do something to help them. I taught them to pray and always trust on the Lord then He will help deliver you out of these afflictions. Guess this is the only thing I can do to help them.
I also have the opportunity to lay my hands and bless an investigator to overcome smoke addiction. It feels so different when I laid my hands on his head. Words came out from my mouth and it sounded so different from how I used to speak. This is why we are different from other churches because we hold the authority.
After all these experiences, it is very hard to deny that there is no God in this world and it is very hard for me to deny it when miracles keep happening every single day. I believe this 2 years is gonna the best experience in my life and will definitely make me an even better person.
