Manghanda Umaga

Manghanda Umaga (Good morning in Tagalog)

It's 10:40am right here in Manila, Philippines. Sorry for not emailing you all because we are only allowed to send out emails only on one day which is today because today is our Preparation Day. How is everyone doing? Because I am doing really good here in Philipines MTC and the temple is right opposite of the MTC building. And I have the opportunity to visit the temple once a week which is today, next Thursday(13/9/2012), and next next Wednesday(19/9/2012). That would be the only time I get to read my emails and email you all.

My companion here in MTC is Elder Loke (Loke King Wai) and we share a room with two other people from Hong Kong. They are like the funniest Hongkee I ever met. They are Elder Chan & Elder Lee and they are serving in Hong Kong Mission. I am in Ammon district in MTC which consists of 13 great missionaries. 5 of them are Malaysians included me, 2 from Hong Kong and 6 of them are from Taiwan. They all will serve in their respective country except for 1 Malaysian who will be serving in Hong Kong Mission. His name is Elder Lau.

Would like to share the things I had in MTC;

The main purpose of missionaries entering MTC is to gear ourselves so that we are prepared to share the gospel. You do not need to have perfect knowledge in the scriptures. All you need is just a scripture. Before entering MTC, I did not read scriptures, pray daily or even be grateful. But here in MTC, I learned how to be grateful and seek help and guidance from the Lord. You have heard a lot of cool stories from returned mission but what you never heard is how the missionaries have gone through in their life to overcome trials and challenges. I can't really share any challenges as I have not complete my mission yet but I will tell you the things that I have been doing in MTC.

Guess what time I woke up and sleep?
Rise and shine at 6am and on the bed at 10pm

Guess how many times I eat?
Breakfast, Snack Time, Lunch, Snack Time, Dinner and Snack Time

Guess how long we study the scriptures?
longer than the time you spend in your school and there is where you will gain more knowledge in scriptures.

Guess how many times we pray?
Before eat, Before sleep, Before teaching the investigator, Before having class, Before we do anything, we pray for the help of spirit.

And there is more things that I wanted to share but unfortunately I do not have time to share but will share more next week.

Anyway, I will be leaving Philippines MTC on 20/9/2012 to enter the real mission field in Singapore Mission. I am hoping to share the thing I know in the gospel to people. I hope everyone is doing well including the church, family and friends. I can't upload any pictures because we are not allowed to take pictures and to upload pictures. So, I am hoping I am able to do that in Singapore Mission.

Adeline's Note:

Brother Michael Teh emailed these pictures to me today! Although I don't know him, but I am truly grateful that he even take the time and effort to show me Elder Tan's "Proof of Life". He addressed this to my parents:

"Dear Brother and Sister Tan,

I had the opportunity of visiting with your son and his companion last week. He is well and very happy at the MTC.

Thank you for raising a good son.

Sincerely,
Michael Teh"
